Alex joined RED in 2023 as the Controls Systems and IT Manager. His team of technicians and engineers is responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the control systems in each of RED’s 12 utility plants, as well as maintaining all final control elements and instrumentation on RED’s utility generation equipment. His team also carries out in-house controls projects for both newly installed utility generation equipment and upgrades of existing control systems. Alex’s team also manages RED’s 950+ customer billing meters and associated PI data collection system, as well as RED’s IT infrastructure, systems, and vendors.

Alex holds a BS in Computer Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology and an MBA from the Simon Business School at the University of Rochester. Prior to joining RED-Rochester in 2023, Alex worked in other facilities and utilities roles, most recently managing the I&C group at another Rochester, NY utility plant. He has extensive experience working on a variety of plant control systems, including solar/BESS, steam turbine control and generator synchronization, steam and electric centrifugal chillers, gas and oil fired boilers, medium voltage electrical system protection/monitoring/control, and customer utility metering. Alex holds an EIT certificate in the state of NY.
